Christmas Ice Skating

 

Outdoor ice rinks are the coolest places to go this Christmastide. How romantic is this then - floating around on skates under the stars; togged up in scarf and gloves, laughing with friends anticipating the after-skating delights of mulled wine, mince pies and good company.

Birmingham:

 

T-Mobile Street Ice in Birmingham.  This year T-Mobile Street Ice will be located in Birmingham's Centenary Square.

 

Also festive ice-side entertainment as the Frankfurt Christmas Market's
bars and food stalls will be serving along side the ice.


Everyone visiting the ice rink will be captured 'dancing' on the ice and given a free print to take home and keep.

Organise a last minute works party, stay over night and book the rink and make a night of it. This year the rink is available to hire, subject to availability, at a cost of £2500 per Peak session and £1200 per Off Peak session, if you are interested in hiring the rink, please call 0121 202 5000

Bristol
The Mall at Cribbs Causeway’s hugely popular Winter Wonderland attraction opens again tba. Father Christmas will arrive with his reindeer at 6pm to switch on the Christmas Lights and open the ice rink You can visit Santa in his castle until Christmas Eve. Skate on the outdoor ice rink:

Chester Zoo Ice skating
Our huge outdoor ice rink is a great winter activity for all the family. Whether you are a seasoned skated or a beginner, a glide round the ice is great fun. If you have already hung up your skating boots, there’s a spectators viewing area to relax and watch your friends and family skate. There are special skating sessions throughout the winter, including toddler only sessions and dance on ice discos.


Eden Project Ice Skating
A Time of Gifts - around November 30th - January 6th
Our winter festival which we call A Time of Gifts begins around November 30th and runs until early January. This year’s theme will be the warmth and community spirit that the festive season brings.
The outdoor landscape will be transformed into a spectacular winter wonderland with the ice rink surrounded by fir trees laden with snow and twinkling lights everywhere you go. The fire pit we had last winter will be back as will the Cornish Community Choirs you love.


Exeter Castle Ice Rink
November to January. A superb historic setting for this year's open-air ice rink.
Back by popular demand, this year's open-air ice rink will be just a two minute walk from the High Street. Look out for McGahey's The Tobacconist, walk up Castle Street and keep Michael Spiers jewellers on your right, walk towards the tower and you are almost there! The 18th century courtyard will be transformed into an enchanting icy world complete with a 50ft high Christmas tree and twinkling lights. Music will set the mood too.


London:


Hyde Park

Set between Hyde Park Corner and the Serpentine over five weeks this winter, Winter Wonderland is the perfect event for family, friends and colleagues to delight in the magical atmosphere of London this Christmas.

Open from 10am to 10pm each day, the 24,000m² Winter Wonderland site will feature London’s largest outdoor ice rink, a toboggan slide, a traditional and authentic German Christmas Market.

Whether you're an experienced skater or a complete beginner the Winter Wonderland open-air ice rink is London’s essential winter experience giving a cool 35 days of skating. Whilst the rink remains the focus for skaters and spectators, there are plenty of other attractions around the park for all the family including the ice café bars, traditional children's carousel, helter-skelter and rides; and a giant Big Wheel plus lots of free festive entertainment.



Canary Wharf Ice Rink
The Canary Wharf Group is proud to announce that it will be hosting an open air ice rink for the third year in a row. Last season’s larger size rink has been maintained and is still located in the magnificent setting of Canada Square Park, surrounded by Canary Wharf’s world famous towers. The park will again be decked in festive lighting transforming the estate into a winter wonderland, offering the finest facility for outdoor ice skating and entertainment in the Capital.

The skating season begins on November 17th. The rink is open 7 days a week, and will gladly host your office party, Christmas get-togethers, family outings or skate-with-a-date...Festive music and drink will help keep everyone in the right mood.”
 


Ice Skating at the Tower of London

What a location! 24 Nov – 13 Jan. The dry moat beneath the outer curtain wall of the Tower will hold the ice rink. How cool is that!

Kew Gardens Ice Rink
November  to  January
Cold nights, mittens and hot chocolate, may be the last things on your mind during the hazy days of summer, but this winter Kew's ice rink returns and tickets are on sale now.
The rink with a capacity of 250, takes up its usual magical location in the shadow of the magnificent Temperate House for a six-week season. Not only can you enjoy up to an hour's skating (sessions available between 10am-10pm daily), you can also buy joint tickets that entitle you to a wander around the Gardens - helping you create a great family day out.


Greenwich Ice Rink

The Ice Rink at The Forum Norwich
The Ice Rink at The Forum opens for a fifth season of frosty fun on Saturday 10 November for eight weeks when skaters will be able to twizzle and twirl, slip and slide under the sky on the beautiful outdoor real ice skating rink.

As dusk falls, the rink will be lit up by bright white twinkling lights stretched out over the rink creating a magical winter wonderland and the focal point for Norwich’s Christmas festivities. Transparent batter boards around the ice provide a great view for both skaters and spectators so that everyone can join in the fun.

The Ice Rink at The Forum has become a popular seasonal activity for all the family with more than 130,000 people of all ages getting their skates on at the stunning 432m2 outdoor ice rink over the past four years


Winchester Cathedral - Ice Rink

30 November to 6 January.

In partnership with Winchester City Council and Cousins Entertainment is pleased to announce that a seasonal outdoor ice skating rink will operate in the Cathedral grounds. The ice rink will be located in the Inner Close with the Cathedral providing a stunning backdrop. There will be a café immediately behind the ice rink that will sell seasonal refreshments. A Christmas Market selling high quality goods and food will also open from November to  December


Royal Windsor Ice Rink

8 December – 6 January
The thrill of ice skating in the open air, in wonderful surroundings on a magnificent real-ice rink is guaranteed to enthrall all. York

The Ice Factor

17th November  to 6 January

York’s open-air ice rink. Enjoy the thrills, and spills, of ice skating, and the party atmosphere. Set against the spectacular backdrop of Clifford’s Tower in the centre of York, a unique Christmas attraction. It encompasses a picturesque 600 square metre ice rink centred round the illuminated oak tree in the Eye of York, a viewing area, and heated café and skate hire marquees.
