National Gallery on Trafalgar Square. Host to our best collection of paintings - Turner, van Gogh, Rembrandt to mention just a few. Join the 'quickie' or overview tours at 11.30am or 2.30pm.

National Portrait Gallery . As name suggests it's Full of portraits and could become tedious after a while. Take the audio guide tour to make it worth your while. Its just round the corner from the National Gallery.

Tate Modern. Just across the river from St Paul's - go via the wobbly Millennium Bridge.  This could be a controversial visit but art is a matter of opinion. If you like a mixture of art then you'll enjoy Picasso, Matisse, Monet and Warhol and many others plus extreme exhibits that make you think. The audio guide is a good idea at £1  If you're highly into Tates then try the river bus which connects the Tate Modern with Tate Britain.

Tate Britain, south London on the North Bank. Specialising in British painting 16th C through 20th C.  It's  free here. Tel: 020 7887 8000

County Hall Gallery The Dali Universe is next door to the Ferris wheel so give it a go. It costs a bit to admire  the man's genius but it's worth it. If you're an admirer of Picasso then you'll find an exclusive collection at County Hall.

Somerset House Galleries:

Neo-classical building overlooking the South Bank alongside Waterloo Bridge - take a look inside. It houses collections from Courtauld Institute of Art, Gilbert Collection and Hermitage Rooms.

Serpentine Gallery. South Kensington. New British talent.
