Be part of the launch of this year's Edinburgh's Hogmanay and join
the Torchlight Procession at Parliament Square on the Royal Mile.
Led by Vikings and Longships, it ends with a spectacular bonfire and
fireworks atop Calton Hill.
Torches are priced £4 when bought in advance.

A favourite of the festive programme with a classical musical feast
in the warm glow of candles around St. Giles' Cathedral.
Last year the audience enjoyed the uplifting music of JS Bach's
Cantata 140, Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, and Haydn's Missa
Sancti Nicolae, together with a Handel Organ Concerto, played by
Peter Backhouse. The Cathedral Choir, directed by Michael Harris
were joined by the Scottish Ensemble for this seasonal choral
celebration.

Edinburgh is confirmed as the hottest place to spend Hogmanay with
the announcement that top Indie-rock band, Kasabian with special
guests Idlewild, will perform Edinburgh's Hogmanay Concert in the
Gardens with 97.3 Forth One. The bands will take to the unique stage
beneath the castle from 10.00 pm on the 31st December and will join
party goers in welcoming in 2008.
Kasabian's appearance at the Concert in the Gardens, crowns a
successful year in which they have appeared at every major music
festival, including Reading, Leeds, Glastonbury and Scotland's own T
in the Park. With their first album ‘Kasabian' selling over 700,000
copies in the UK and their latest Album ‘Empire' shooting to number
one on its release last year, NME recently rated Kasabian 9 out of
10 and claimed "love them or hate them, you just can't ignore them".

Down in the East Princes Street gardens, funky ceilidh bands will
rock the floor and serious dancing will be done. Up on Mound Square,
fantastic fiddlers play away and bars are provided selling food and
drinks.
Tickets are required for Ceilidh in the Gardens and include a ticket
to East Princes Street Gardens as well as a Street Party Pass. You
will be able to get the best of everything with access to the
exclusive arena as well as access to the three stages at the Street
Party on your way there.
