Hirsel Country Park. Way-marked trails. Shops set in old courtyard. There is something for everyone at the Park, a variety of walks by lakeside, river and through the grounds of the Hirsel Estate, along the way catching sight of the well known Douglas pedigree Highland Cattle and many forms of wildlife on the lake.

Walks:
 

Craik Forest.  Borthwick valley, which takes you to Craik Forest . 
How to get there:
From Hawick follow the A7 towards Carlisle.
At Martins Bridge turn onto the B711 and follow this road until you come to Roberton (very small village and school). Just beyond the school turn down to the left and then follow the unclassified single track road. Craik Forest is well sign posted

Cardrona.forest.  How to get there:
Take the B7062 east from Peebles for approximately three and a half miles. The entrance to Cardrona Forest is on the right

Walk the St Cuthbert's Way from Melrose to Lindisfarne in stages.  By comparison with many Scottish walks this is a doddle. Not a lot of climbing, mainly pleasant undulating Border land. Take a look at the route details- click here
