  • Shandon Bells-Ring the famous bells over Cork City. (1 miles) - The church has a facade made of limestone on two sides&red sandstone on the other two. The clock face is known by the locals as the 'Four faced Liar' because, until 1986 each face showed different times.
  • Blarney Castle &Estate-Kiss (10 miles) - this historic castle is most famous for its Stone, which has the traditional power of confering eloquence on all who kiss it. The word Blarney is described as 'pleasant talk, intended to deceive without offending'.
  • Fota Wildlife Park (15 miles) - Beautifull located in 40 acres of grassland, where giraffe, zebras, ostrich,roam together as they would in Africa Savannah. Monkey and Gibbons play on the lake Island while kangaroos, macawa and lemurs enjoy the freedom with 70 animal species.
  • Jameson Heritage Centre (20 miles) - Superbly refurbished 18th Century Whiskey Distillery where you can see the largest Pot Still in the world with a capacity of 32,000 gallons. Each visit culminates in the Jameson Bar with the Irish Whiskey tasting session.

Getting there

 

From Dublin/ Waterford/ Kilkenny On entering Cork City, watch out for sign for The Moran Silver Spring's Hotel, on dual carriageway.
Go onto flyover opposite the hotel and follow road for (North Ring/Limerick).
Halfway up the hill at the 1st set of traffic lights turn left.
After the Garda (Police) Station take the next left.
Continue up this road for approximately one and a half miles to a junction St.
Luke's, (Green Kiosk).
Drive straight through this junction (St.
Luke's Cross) onto Wellington Road.
Take second right (watch for sign) and the Ambassador Hotel is on the right.
From Blarney/Limerick/Shannon Airport:
On entering Cork, you will see the sign for Dublin/North Ring Road - take this road.
Drive along this main route for 2 miles approx.
At Ballyvolane Dunnes Stores Shopping Centre turn right following city centre signs.
At 2nd junction (St.
Luke's Cross) turn right onto Wellington Road.
Take second right (watch for sign) and the Ambassador Hotel is on the right.
From Killarney/Macroom:
Follow signs for city centre & Dublin until you go over St.
Patrick's Bridge (main bridge out of Cork).
Follow road onto MacCurtain St.
(one way system).
At Traffic lights at the end of MacCurtain St.
take a left turn, up Summers Hill.
Take a left again at the junction, St.
Luke's Cross (green kiosk) onto Wellington Road.
Take second right (watch for sign) and the Ambassador Hotel is on the right.
From Cork Airport/West Cork/Kinsale:
Follow signs towards City centre, following signs for Dublin until you go over St.
Patrick's Bridge (main bridge out of Cork).
Follow road onto MacCurtain St.
(one way system).
