From the m5 motorway, which ends at Exeter, follow the signs for Torquay (a380) skirting Newton Abbot and through Kingskerswell.
At the roundabout entering Torbay either:
Turn right on the A380 ring road and follow signs for Paignton.
Go straight over the first roundabout and turn left at the second to Preston seafront.
Follow the road until you reach the traffic lights and head straight across down Seaway Road and under the bridge onto the seafront (Marine Drive), which is one way.
When it turns into two-way traffic turn second right into Colin Road.
Bay Sands is on the right at the end by the car park.
Or take the scenic route:
At the roundabout entering Torbay go straight on and through Torquay and head for the seafront where Paignton (signposted) is on the right.
Follow the road for about 3 miles, and the road will break into two lanes for the town centre and the seafront.
Keep in the seafront lane (down Seaway Road) and on to Marine Drive, which is one way.
When it turns into two-way traffic turn second right into Colin Road.
