Information about the hotel
The County Hotel, an historic former Coaching Inn situated in the centre of town. Here you can look forward to a warm welcome from our General Manager and staff.
The hotel features a lovely dining room complete with sprung dance floor, a pleasant lounge and two well-stocked bars. All 37 bedrooms are en suite and include colour tv, telephone and tea and coffee making facilities also all our bedrooms are non-smoking. Entertainment is regularly featured, and a lift serves all floors. Limited parking outside, free parking in railway station opposite.
Lake District (2 miles) - The Lake District National Park in the north-west of England is the largest of Englands National Parks. Its 2,292 square kilometres cover fells, dales, lakes and villages. The National Park also includes part of the West Coast, with beaches and tidepools.
Lake Windermere (13 miles) - Windermere, at 12 miles long and 220 meters deep is one of the longest in England. Plenty of entertainment available from river crusies to walking.
Grasmere (16 miles) - Grasmere is probably the Cumbria's most popular village, thanks to William Wordsworth.
From junction 36 on the m6 take the a65 to Kendal. Follow the signs a6 North to Shap and Penrith, and the County is on the right hand side opposite the Railway Station entrance.
