Information about the hotel

This superb country house hotel is set in 6 acres of beautiful gardens and overlooks the breathtaking scenery of Lake Windermere with the fells beyond.

With a tranquil, idyllic setting, Lindeth Howe is the perfect antidote to a hectic modern life. The house was previously owned by the much-loved children’s author Beatrix Potter and you can still feel her presence today. All of the hotel’s rooms are elegantly furnished and some feature fabulous views of Lake Windermere. The hotel’s restaurant offers lunch, dinner and afternoon tea and has recently received 2 AA Rosettes. Guests can also relax by the indoor pool; enjoy the sauna and fitness room; or indulge themselves with various body therapy massages. Wi-Fi wireless internet access is available throughout. Lindeth Howe has recently been awarded a Gold Award from VisitBritain, which adds to the 3 Star 86% merit score from the AA. The Dining Room - Awarded 2 rosettes, Lindeth Howe has an excellent reputation for good food that is accompanied by a discerning, value for money wine list. Throughout the day, you can enjoy morning coffee, tasty light lunches and afternoon tea with homemade cakes and scones. In the evening, look forward to a scrumptious dinner served in a candlelit dining room. The seasonal menu provides a wide range of choices and with advance notice, the chefs can cater for all diets. Lounges - The Beatrix Potter library has a range of books, guides and leaflets on the area for you to browse through, as well as information on Beatrix Potter herself. The hilltop lounge with its sunny aspect overlooks the lawns with a garden door that opens up onto the terrace. And as the evening descends, relax in the bar lounge in front of the log fire and enjoy the tipple of your choice from the well stocked bar, whether it be a glass of local beer or a flute of fine champagne. Leisure Facilities - A small heated indoor pool, sauna and fitness room are available. There is also the chance for guests to unwind with a massage, but it is best to book in advance. Special Occasions - Whether it's a birthday, anniversary, or simply a nice surprise, Lindeth Howe can arrange champagne, chocolates, flowers and anything else you might require to make it a truly memorable occasion.

CANCELLATION POLICY: null COMMENTS: Children aged 6 and under have their own menu of personal favourites which they are asked to enjoy between 17:00 and 18:00. We have a selection of games, 6 acres of grounds to explore and an indoor heated pool. With advance notice we can provide cots and provide a babysitting service for GBP 6 per hour. As part of our continuous improvement plan at Lindeth Howe, from the beginning of May, we are commencing a process of painting the outside of the hotel. It is a major task but absolutely essential to protect walls and woodwork against the weather. Work of this nature is totally weather-dependent and we are not able to accurately judge when it will be finished. What we have agreed with the contractors is that the building will not be totally shrouded in scaffolding. It will be erected in small stages and will not impede views from the hotel rooms. Also, work will not commence early in the day and will not be intrusive. I do hope you will bear with us whilst we complete these works and that it in no way reduces the enjoyment of your stay with us.
