Whilst still retaining the decor and atmosphere of the splendid Georgian era, the County hotel has every modern amenity. The hotel remains a popular stopover for those travelling between England and Scotland.

The County hotel is a famous listed building in the heart of the city centre, close to shops, bars and restaurants. Open daily for breakfast and dinner, our Gallerie restaurant offers a choice of a la carte and ‘table d'hote’ menus, complemented by a fine selection of wines and liqueurs. Adjacent to the restaurant, the Portland Residents Lounge Bar is the place to relax before or after your meal. As an alternative to the restaurant, you may prefer to sample our bar menu in the relaxed atmosphere of JR's Bar & Diner.

- Follow signs for Carlisle. - At the first set of traffic lights (Tesco on right, Rover garage on left) head straight on and then straight on through the next 4 sets of traffic lights.
- Turn first left into Cecil Street then take the first right into Mary Street. - The County Hotel car park is on the right.
