The White Hart Hotel proudly sits midway between the medieval cathedral and the imposing walls of Lincoln Castle. There have been hostelries on this site even before King Richard II gave the hotel its insignia of a white hart in 1372. This is a perfect hotel at which to have a few days away from it all. Historic sites are within easy walking distance, including the city's magnificent 11th century cathedral, its Norman castle and the cobbled streets of Bailgate.

Local Attractions

  • Lincoln cathedral (0 miles) - Visible from 48km away, it's the second tallest in England. Construction begun in 1072, and was consecrated 20 years later. In the Treasury is fine silver plate from the churches of the diocese.
  • Museum of Lincolnshire Life (1 miles) - Social history museum housed in the old barracks of the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment. Displays include the interiors of Vistorian shops and workshops, chemists, co-operative store, and wheelwright. Also tractors, steam engines and a First World War tank.
  • Lincoln castle (1 miles) - Built by William the Conqueror in 1068 on a site occupied since Roman times. On the larger of the two mottes a 15-sided keep was built. The castle acted as the city's prison between 1787 and 1878.
  • The Toy Museum (2 miles) - A museum for children and adults alike, containing many toys. The crazy mirrors and penny slot machines will bring back memories and bags of old pennies to operate the machines can be obtained. There's also a selection of toys and games for sale.

By Car - Enter Lincoln on the A46 ring road.
- Turn off at the A15 junction and follow the signs for the cathedral, castle and historic area.
- Head in a straight line from the roundabout on the ring road to the hotel, on Bailgate (LN1 3AR). By Air The hotel is one hour from Humberside and Robin Hood Airport.
