Trooping the Colour, honours the sovereign's official birthday ( born 21 April) - Horse Guards Parade.   Each year, the Queen and other members of the Royal Family attend the Trooping the Colour ceremony. The Queen attends the ceremony to take the salute from thousands of guardsmen who parade the Queen's colour (or flag). This dates back to the earliest times of armed conflict, when each leader needed his own colours to stand out in the smoke and dust of battle. The flag was trooped in front of the soldiers every day to make sure that every man could recognise those of his own regiment.

NEC -  bags of events held in Birmingham - it is at the hub of the UK motorway network, enabling visitors to travel directly from the M6, M1, M40 and M42.
