From the
dazzling illuminations of Southend on Sea to the
splendid architecture of
Cambridge East Anglia has something for everyone. For events scroll down.
Southend on Sea:
Illuminations blaze over a mile of Southend seafront
every night from July to November and then at weekends until the end of the year.
Southend has long been established
as a traditional family
day out destination at the seaside. Apart from your usual
beach fun there is
Europe’s largest free
airshow,
the RPO Concert In The Park, Classic Car Run, folk
festival, jazz festival, sailing barge race and water regattas
and more.
Norfolk Broads:
The Norfolk and
Suffolk Broads is a unique area of water, grazing
marshes, fen and woodland, and home to some of the rarest plants and creatures
in the UK. It is Britain's largest protected wetland, having similar status to a
national park..
The Norfolk and Suffolk Broads
area covers 125 miles of navigable waterways. The
broads were formed in the 9th-13th centuries, when peat was dug out to use as
fuel - as time went by water levels rose and the
diggings flooded forming the broads. The area surrounding the Broads is perfect
for walking, cycling, fishing, birdwatching and conservation
For a
relaxing (!) boat holiday on the Norfolk Broads. You could try
Barnes Brinkcraft,
situated in Wroxham, the heart of Broadland. The boatyard is owned
and personally run by the Thwaites family team. Over 35 years experience
...
Norwich:
Norwich has
some of the finest medieval architecture in Britain with
its cathedral, castle and intricate network of winding streets,
yet an up-to-the-minute centre - a contrast of old and new with its theatres,
cinemas, arts festivals, exhibitions, museums, abundant pubs, trendy café bars
and a good selection of restaurants.
To the south lays the
captivating Waveney Valley and the undisturbed southern corner of the Norfolk
Broads. Discover scenic villages and market towns
where time seems to stand still.
Cromer:
Cromer town’s landmark
has to be it’s fine 14th-century church. It is a town
celebrated for it’s history of the sea, fishing and crabs. A
visit to see the famous end-of-the pier show is a must at the
Pavillion Theatre. The lifeboat is housed at the end of the pier
and can be visited all year from 10am - 4pm. Carnival
week in August is a must - for
a whole week there are activities organized around the town and on the cliff top.
An easy walk along
the cliffs will bring you to the Golf Course and Cromer Lighthouse.
Further along this path and you will come to the
charming village of Overstrand.
Sheringham:
Sheringham
is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 recording a church at Upper Sheringham. Set on the edge is
Sheringham Park, here you will find space to roam and
even climb the look-out towers for views of the surrounding
countryside and sea. Visit in May and June when the
rhododendrons are in full bloom. Sheringham Little
Theatre offers all year round entertainment with live theatre, films,
exhibitions, and children’s shows. Today the restored
station - Poppyline - is well worth a visit and from
here you can take a trip on the famous North Norfolk steam railway, which
travels between Sheringham and Holt. - you could always walk
back to Sheringham through the woodland path.
